COVID-19

COVID-19 is a respiratory illness caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The illness is spread from person-to-person through respiratory droplets. These infectious droplets are released when a person with COVID-19 talks, sneezes, or coughs. This is why “social distancing” and wearing a mask are critical in preventing transmission of the virus.

The incubation period for the virus is 2 to 14 days after exposure. A person can be contagious for 48 hours BEFORE they show symptoms. Most people develop symptoms 5-6 days after exposure and will have a positive PCR test then, but it can take up to 14 days to develop symptoms.
